APPOINTMENTS BY THE MAYOR AND/OR
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
§51-3 of the City Code provides that the Mayor is to make the Planning
Board appointments. Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:55D-22, the Mayor serves as
the Class I Member, the Class II Member is a member of the town, not on
the Board or the Chair of the Environmental Commission if there is one.
Class III must be a member of the governing body. The appointment does
not belong to the Mayor, but the governing body. Class IV and
Alternates are appointed by the Mayor.
§64 of the City Code entitled “Parks and Recreation” provides that the
Chairperson and the Sub-chairperson must be appointed by the City
Commission. Any vacancies are to be filed by the City Commission.
§180 of the City Code entitled “Historic Preservation Commission” (not
yet codified) provides that appointments are to be made by the Mayor.
See also N.J.S.A. 40:55D-107(c) which provides that the
power of appointment belongs with the Mayor, unless by ordinance it is
designated to the Chairman of the Planning Board.
§33 of the City Code entitled “Environmental Commission” provides for
appointments by the Mayor.
§25 of the City Code entitled “Economic Development Advisory Committee”
provides for appointments by the Mayor.
§19 of the City Code entitled “Community Development & Municipal Affairs
Coordinator” provides “appointment of the coordinator shall be by
resolution duly adopted by the Board of Commissioners.
§74 of the City Code regarding the Sewer Authority provides that
appointments are to be completed by the Board of Commissioners.
§230 of the City Code entitled “Shade Trees” provides that appointments
are to be completed by the Board of Commissioners. |
