Elected in May of 2021, Jennifer Sciortino currently serves as Mayor and Director of Revenue and Finance, as well as chair of the City’s Economic Development Advisory Committee.
Sciortino has nearly 30 years of government communications experience and currently serves as Director of Public Affairs and Outreach for the NJ Department of the Treasury. She has previously served in a communications capacity for numerous state and local government entities, including the Governor's Office, both houses of the Legislature, the NJ Department of Health, and the City of Perth Amboy.
Sciortino moved to Bordentown in 2008 and currently lives on Mary St with her fiancé Molly. Prior to becoming elected she helped run Bordentown City Cats, the city's local 501c3 animal rescue group.
Joseph was elected as a city commissioner in May of 2017 overseeing public works and the water department. In May 2021, Joe was elected deputy mayor and continues overseeing public works and the water department.
Joseph graduated with a Bachelor of Political Science from the College of New Jersey in 1998 and from the University of Pennsylvania with a Master of Governmental Affairs and a Master of Political Science in 2000. Joe began working at Camden Community Partnership (CCP) as a graduate intern in 1999, became a full-time project manager upon graduation in 2000, and was promoted to COO in 2009 and tasked with overseeing the office's fundraising, administration, and operations.
Joseph lives with his wife Lauren and their two children, Caitlin and Augustus on Reeder Avenue.
Appointed in March of 2024 to temporarily fill a vacancy on the governing body, Heather Cheesman currently serves as interim Commissioner and Director of Public Safety and Affairs, and also holds a seat on the City’s Economic Development Advisory Committee and the Bordentown Sewerage Authority. She previously served on the Board of Commissioners as Deputy Mayor and Director of Revenue and Finance from 2009-2013 and is also a former member of the Bordentown Board of Education.
She has spent nearly the entirety of her professional career in public service, teaching in the public education system, serving youths in the state’s juvenile justice system, and spending 15 years with the Burlington County Clerk’s Office as Chief of Staff and later Deputy County Clerk. She stepped down from public service last year to take a position with Capital Health System as Director of Payroll.
Cheesman is a lifelong Bordentown resident who currently lives on Spring Street with her partner Jason and her two college-age children, Max and Maggie.
