The Bordentown City Police Department is accepting resumes for the position of Special Law Enforcement Officer Class 1. (Full and Part-time). We are looking for the best Special Law Enforcement Officer candidates to join our agency to work with us to provide the highest level of professional police services for our citizens. This position also provides opportunities for advancement to be trained as a SLEO II or considered for a full-time police officer position.
Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
• Minimum age of 18
• Proof of US Citizenship
• Proof of residency in New Jersey
• Proof of valid New Jersey Driver’s License
• Ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently
• Must not have been convicted of any crime or violation of moral turpitude
• Required to pass pre-employment drug, medical, and psychological screening successfully
SLEO I officers are responsible for various support functions within our agency that include traffic enforcement and direction, parking enforcement, managing pedestrian crossings, security at special events, security for municipal buildings and properties, foot patrol in the downtown business district, arrestee processing and detention management, detainee transportation within municipal facilities and community notifications.
SLEO I officers are authorized to perform routine traffic details and issue municipal ordinance violations as well as parking summonses. This position entails using special equipment such as a baton, OC spray, and handcuffs. SLEO I officers are prohibited from carrying or using firearms and are not designated as primary response personnel.
