The City Clerk is one of the oldest positions in local government. The Clerk’s duties include:

• Preparation of agendas and recording of minutes for meetings of the City’s Board of Commissioners. You can find the schedule of board meetings and links to past/present minutes and agendas: HERE.
• Custodian of municipal records.
• Processing and issuing licenses and permits for liquor sale and consumption; dogs; bingos; raffles; soliciting/peddler’s permits; marriage, civil union licenses; and many others.
• Serves as the Chief Administrator of all Elections.
• Serves as Registrar of Vital Statistics, keeping a record of all births, deaths, and marriages/civil unions occurring within the boundaries of the City and processing all license applications. For assistance, please contact: E-mail: fburress@cityofbordentown.com

Petition Packets are now available to pick up for the Special Municipal Election to be held on November 5, 2024 to fill the unexpired term of Bordentown City Commissioner and Director of Public Safety & Affairs.

Packets may be picked up Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 am – 4 pm at the office of the Acting City Clerk, located at the Bordentown City Municipal Building, 101 E. Park St, Bordentown.

The deadline to file petitions to be a candidate for City Commissioner is August 22, 2024 at 4 pm.

The unexpired term will run from November 2024 until the next Municipal Election in May of 2025 when all three seats on the Board of Commissioners will be up for election to a new four-year term. Any questions may be directed to the Acting City Clerk at the contact info listed above.
